Chiropractic treatment restores function, improves mobility and stability thereby helping the body to reduce the pain.’
At TargetHealth we have been trained as chiropractors to use a variety of techniques to treat an extensive range of conditions. With experience, time and numerous post graduate courses we have discovered that some patients can have food intolerances and/or emotional stress which can block their physical condition from improving. These need to be treated together with the physical condition.
Common conditions treated include:
Back Pain – Back pain can be caused by a misalignment of bones, joints, tendons and muscles. When these structures are misaligned it causes pressure on the nerves and in time pain then builds up. The spine is a common place for misalignment to occur as all the nerves pass from the brain through the spine to get to the rest of the body. As chiropractors, we then adjust/realign the body to correct this.
Shoulder Pain – The shoulder joint is the loosest joint in the body. Therefore shoulder problems are very common.eg Supraspinatus tendonitis, Bicep tendonitis, Shoulder impingement, Frozen shoulder
Scoliosis – This is a sideways curve of the spine. It may be first visible in young adolescents. The condition can be hereditary and often causes mild symptoms of back, neck and shoulder pain. Due to the sideways curve of the spine the movement of the vertebrae is altered. Chiropractic treatment helps to relieve some of the symptoms and regular exercise helps to maintain the condition.
Nutrition– ‘We are what we eat’ – but actually we are what we can digest and assimilate. Most of us have had a stomach bug before maybe from foreign travel or contaminated food. This causes an imbalance to occur in the gut whereby the ‘good’ bacteria gets pushed away and allows the ‘bad’ bacteria and fungus to proliferate. Food Intolerances which cause a variety of symptoms can also be diagnosed and treated.
NET and relief of emotional stress-To help some patients with emotional stress we use a technique called Neuro Emotional Technique (N.E.T.) developed by a chiropractor, Scott Walker. The technique involves the use of manual muscle testing and verbalising the stress issues. For more information browse www.netmindbody.com where you will also find a demonstration.
Kinesiology– To help assess a patient’s metabolic status at Target Health we use the technique called Applied Kinesiology. This technique was developed by a chiropractor, George Goodheart, involving the use of manual muscle testing.(www.icak.co.uk). By checking the muscle tone this can lead to the areas of the body that require treatment.
Headaches and Migraines – Some can arise from altered mobility in the neck.
Hip and Knee Pain– Symptoms arise from the lower back and pelvis if no trauma is involved.
Neck and Shoulder Pain– Lower neck stiffness causes irritation on the nerves leading to shoulder and arm pain.
Shin Splints – Symptoms originate from an inbalance of the calf and shin muscles together with the lower back.
Tennis Elbow and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome – A condition involving pressure of the nerves in the neck and along the elbow and wrist.
Achilles and Arch Pain– This is commonly associated with lower back conditions and sciatica.
Lower Back Pain and Sciatica– Entrapment of nerves causes pain along the sciatic nerve.
Posture problems– Posture can be improved and measured by the ‘before’ and ‘after’ treatment.
